Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum) position at an acute care hospital in Colorado, requiring at least one year of L&D experience and LDRP training.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting in Colorado, serving a rural patient population
- LDRP unit with 4 LDRP beds, 1 OR suite for C-sections, 2 triage beds, and 3 postpartum beds
- Patient population includes laboring and postpartum women, newborns, and GYN surgical patients
- Low-volume unit averaging 0–2 births per day (~200 per year); ratios follow AWHONN guidelines to the extent possible for a rural hospital
- RNs are required to titrate drips; common titratable drip is Pitocin
- RNs must be able to triage and function as the baby catcher/transition nurse; C-section circulation and post-op GYN management are not required
- Charge nurse takes a patient assignment as one of two nurses on shift; no nurse aides or surgical techs on the unit
- OBs are not in-house and have a 20-minute response time; on-call after hours
- Anesthesia is in-house during regular business hours and on-call after hours with a 20-minute response time
- RT attends deliveries when available; pediatrics on-call can attend in lieu of RT
- EFM system: OBIX; EMR: Epic
- 12-hour night shifts (6p–6a)
- Every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) required
- Half of winter holidays required
- No on-call or standby requirement
- Rare floating to med/surg via 'helping hands' policy
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active CO or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses are not accepted
- Active certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring; pending certifications are not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of L&D experience required
- Must be trained and experienced in LDRP care
- Must be able to triage patients and function as the baby catcher/transition nurse
- Epic EMR experience required
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility; a valid driver's license is required for consideration
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- 3-day unit-specific orientation; candidates must be physically on-site for the orientation week even if initial modules are completed remotely
- Scrubs are not provided; no specific color requirement
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; candidates placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
