Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a float pool position at a Level I Trauma Academic Medical Center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and the ability to float across 5 ICU specialties on two campuses.
Details
- Float pool position rotating across 5 ICU specialties within a short-term acute care, Level I Trauma, academic medical center with 1,567 staffed beds
- Travelers float between two campuses located approximately 2 blocks apart; a shuttle is available between locations
- Floating to step-down units is required as needed, including a pulmonary step-down unit with a 1:3 patient ratio
- Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call required
- Charting via Epic
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active CT or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted, but must be active prior to start date)
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Trauma center experience at a large facility required
- No prior disciplinary actions or priors on nursing license
- Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 2 years before being considered as a traveler
- RTO of 7 days or fewer may be auto-approved; requests exceeding 7 days require facility approval
- Block scheduling is not available for this position
- Flu vaccine is required; declinations are not accepted
- COVID vaccine and booster required; religious and medical exemptions are considered
- Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as required by the facility
- 1 professional reference required for consideration
