Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Interventional Radiology (IR) position in Bakersfield, CA, requiring ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications along with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting in an Interventional Radiology (IR) department
- IR suites include CT, ultrasound, X-ray, MRI, and Nuclear Medicine modalities
- Patient population includes both inpatient and outpatient cases; pediatric patients are a possibility
- Common procedures include paracentesis, thoracentesis, biopsies, drainage procedures, and sedation monitoring
- Average caseload of 8–15 cases per day
- Charting system: Cerner (experience required)
- Equipment includes MRI-safe pumps and EKG monitors
- 4x10-hour day shifts per week, every other weekend (EOW)
- First to float when census requires
- On-call rotation required for weeknights and alternating weekends
- IR physicians are on-site Monday–Friday 8am–5pm and Saturday 8am–12pm, with on-call coverage after hours
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses are not accepted
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required; pending certifications are not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Interventional Radiology experience strongly preferred
- Cerner EMR experience required
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include assisting the Interventional Radiologist with imaging and invasive procedures, coordinating the IR MD schedule, collaborating with floor RNs and imaging techs, assisting with sedations, pacemakers, and peripheral IV placement
- No IR techs on unit; RN supports the IR MD alongside CT, MRI, ultrasound, and radiology staff
- Imaging Director and manager are on-site on weekdays; there is no charge RN on the unit
- Orientation consists of 3–4 day shifts of unit/department-specific training
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Local candidates are accepted for this position
