Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a travel assignment at a large acute care Magnet teaching hospital, requiring extensive experience in Hepatobiliary, Whipple, abdominal organ transplant, and complex spine/neuro/ENT procedures.
Details
- Operating Room (OR) in a 1,259-bed short-term acute care hospital with 17 OR suites and an average daily census of 20–28
- Day shift, 3x12-hour schedule with start times between 0930–1100 as needed
- Shift hours run approximately 0930–2200 or 1100–2300
- Every other weekend required
- On-call required after shift until 0630, including possible weekend call; response time within 45 minutes
- Estimated on-call frequency is approximately one 12-hour weekday call shift and one weekend (Sat/Sun) shift per 6-week schedule, though call volume may vary based on unit needs
- If on call past midnight, up to 8 hours of rest time is provided before potential return to provide relief, lunches, or shift coverage
- Floating within scope and skill set level required to meet facility needs
- Block scheduling is not available
- Charting performed in Epic (experience required)
- Hospital-provided scrubs
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or Compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending IL license may be acceptable — please note if applicable
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience required
- Extensive experience in Hepatobiliary, Whipple, and abdominal organ transplant procedures required
- Proficiency in complex Spine, ENT, Neuro, and intra-abdominal transplant procedures required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are considered only if they have experience in Neuro, Spine, or ENT
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Standard RN travelers may work up to 18 consecutive months before a required 3-month break in service
- Parking passes are available for purchase at nearby lots and garages; pricing and availability vary by location
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years will be required for consideration
