Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a float pool PCU/Progressive Care Unit position requiring both KS and MO (or compact) RN licensure and at least 2 years of recent specialty experience.

Details

• This is a float pool position — no home unit is assigned; clinician will float between approximately 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments and other metro campuses as needed
• Patient population includes cardiac (pre/post cath, A-fib), neuro (stroke), sepsis, renal failure, GI bleed, ETOH, SI, wound care, and COVID cases
• Patient ratio is 1:5
• Relevant work settings include MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, and Neuro Stepdown
• Required equipment and systems: Virtual Nurses, 12-lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, Omnicell
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period (combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
• No on-call requirements
• Block scheduling is not available
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license in both Kansas and Missouri (or a compact license covering both states) must be in hand at time of consideration
• Required certifications: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Preferred certifications: ACLS
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/specialty experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
• Required clinical skills: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, cardiac monitoring, and emergency response
• Preferred skills: sheath removal, feeding tube care and management, port access, blood product administration, and central line care/management
• 2 professional references required: at least one must be supervisor level or above; the second may be a charge RN; all references must be from someone who has worked with the candidate within the past year
• Pending licenses are not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide progressive care nursing across multiple Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU units and metro campuses, including cardiac, neuro, and general medical-surgical patient populations
• Charge RN assignments may be required as needed per unit
• Holiday shift coverage required on an as-needed basis
• RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
• Travel partners are not accepted for this position
• Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility are considered local and are not eligible for this travel position
