Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Neuro ICU position at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital in New Mexico, requiring at least 1.5 years of ICU experience and specialized neuro critical care skills.
Details
- Neuro ICU unit within a Level I Trauma, academic teaching hospital with 554 staffed beds
- Patient population includes TBI, SAH, SDH, tumor resections, status epilepticus, and other neurological disorders
- 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio standard in the Neuro ICU
- Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs
- No on-call requirements
- Floating may be required to other ICUs, PCU floors, ED (for admitted patients), and PACU (for admitted patients); med-surg-like patients and 6:1 ratios possible when floating, though not standard
- Block scheduling can be accommodated but is not guaranteed
- Charting in Cerner
Requirements
- Active NM RN license or compact RN license required; pending license accepted
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 1.5 years of ICU experience required
- Experience with EVD insertions and management, neuro post-op care, A-line insertions, intubation, central line insertion, CRRT, post-tPA care, and post-thrombectomy care
- Experience with EVD and CRRT equipment
- Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
- ICP monitoring experience required
- Candidate must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Black scrubs required
- No parking fee at the facility
- RTO requests exceeding 7 days require approval; all time-off requests should be submitted upfront
- Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark at this facility must take a 6-month break before returning
- COVID vaccination is optional; vaccine status reporting is required by the facility
- Contracts and extensions must be a minimum of 10 weeks in length
