Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Oncology RN for a night shift travel contract at a Magnet teaching hospital, with chemotherapy and central line experience required.
Details
- Oncology unit in a Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital with 637 staffed beds
- Patient population consists primarily of those receiving chemotherapy, many of whom are neutropenic; unexpected admissions are commonly for neutropenic fevers
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Weekend shifts required unless otherwise noted on the posted schedule
- Charting via Epic (experience preferred but not required)
- Floating within the hospital is required; floating to sister hospitals is not required
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rates; no radius restriction applies
- 13-week contract with potential for extension beyond 13 weeks
Requirements
- Active WA state RN license or compact RN license — no pending licenses accepted
- Minimum 2 years of oncology RN experience
- Current BLS certification required; OCN certification preferred
- Chemotherapy administration experience and chemotherapy symptom management experience required
- Blood product administration experience required
- Experience with central lines, including tunneled and non-tunneled ports, required
- COVID vaccination and booster required — no exceptions
- Teaching hospital and trauma hospital experience preferred
- At least 2 travel assignments beyond initial hospital employment preferred
Additional Information
- Administer chemotherapy and manage associated symptoms for oncology patients, including neutropenic fever cases
- Provide blood product administration and central line care as part of routine patient management
- Epic charting experience is preferred but not required
- First-time travelers are not preferred for this position
- RTO is limited to a maximum of 1 week and cannot be requested during orientation week; keep RTO to a minimum
- Former UW employees must have been separated from the facility for at least 18 months before being eligible to return as a traveler
- Block scheduling is not available unless otherwise noted on the posting
- Daily parking is available on-site for $10.26 per day
