Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a fast-paced Med/Surg unit specializing in trauma and acute care surgical patients, requiring Level I or comparable Level II Trauma center experience.
Details
- 36-bed adult surgical unit in an acute care hospital setting
- Primarily serves trauma patients and acute care surgical patients, including spinal cord injuries (new quadriplegics and paraplegics), traumatic brain injuries, orthopedic trauma injuries, hernia repairs, small bowel obstructions, appendectomies, and cholecystectomies
- Unit includes 2 negative pressure rooms serving COVID-positive patients
- RN-to-patient ratios: 1:4 on days and 1:5 on nights
- LNA-to-patient ratio: 1:12
- Telemetry monitoring required on unit
Requirements
- Active NH RN license or Compact RN license required; proof of state residency required for Compact license holders
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum of 1.5 years of recent, equivalent Med/Surg experience required
- Recent Level I Trauma center experience required, or several years of Level II Trauma center experience; must be within the last 2 years
- Experience with chest tubes, tracheostomies, and laryngectomies required
- Experience managing drips including Diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, and amiodarone required
- Experience with central line care and maintenance, including blood draws, required
- Experience with lines, tubes, and drains for post-surgical patients required
- Complex wound care experience required
- 2 professional references from managers required for consideration

- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
