Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a GI/Endoscopy position in Wichita, KS, requiring a minimum of 1 year of recent Endo RN experience and an active KS or compact RN license.
Details
- Work setting is a hospital-based Endoscopy Laboratory with 9 beds
- Day shift only, with hours from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
- Staffing includes 6-7 RNs and 2 techs per day
- Intra-op patient ratio is 2:1 (team of 2 staff per patient); pre/post-op ratio is 1 RN to 2 patients
- Typical procedures include EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP, EUS, and EBUS (with variations of each)
- Equipment used includes Olympus endoscopes and reprocessing systems
- EMR system is Meditech
- On-call requirements include 3-4 weeknight shifts per month (Mon–Thu, 5:30 PM–7:00 AM), 1 Friday per month (5:30 PM–11:00 PM), and 1-2 weekend shifts per month (Saturday 11:00 PM to Sunday/Monday morning 7:00 AM)
- 2 shifts per month will be opening shifts from 6:00 AM to 5:30 PM
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license — KS state license or compact license required
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date)
- Minimum 1 year of recent acute care Endo RN experience
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no exceptions; Canadian SSNs are not accepted
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
Additional Information
- Staff perform both basic and interventional/therapeutic endoscopic procedures alongside highly specialized physicians on high-acuity patients
- Infection control responsibilities include manual cleaning and high-level disinfection of endoscopes
- PACU experience is preferred
- Experience with Olympus scopes and reprocessing is preferred
- Experience with both circulating and tech procedures in Endo is preferred
- ACLS certification is preferred
- Ideal candidate can work independently with minimal supervision while also functioning effectively as part of an intraoperative team
