Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Medical ICU (CVICU) night shift position in Saint Louis, MO, requiring a minimum of 3 years of cardiac/medical ICU experience and active MO or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work in a 22-bed Cardiac Medical Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes sepsis, respiratory conditions (pneumonia, COVID, ARDS), post-cardiac arrest, GI bleed, DKA, PE, renal failure, liver failure, pancreatitis, overdose, suicidal ideation, and CIWA
- Patient ratio is 1:2
- Specialized equipment in use includes Impella, IABP, Prismax CRRT, Zoll internal cooling device, and Arctic Sun
- EMR: Epic
- Night shift: 19:00–07:30
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- 13-week contract with 36 or 48 hours per week
- May float to other stepdown units based on staffing needs
Requirements
- Active RN license in Missouri or compact license meeting Missouri eligibility requirements
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- TNCC preferred
- Minimum 3 years of inpatient Cardiac Medical ICU experience required
- Experience recovering open heart patients directly from the OR (CVI) required
- Experience with Epic EMR
- No gaps in employment of 90 or more days within the past 12 months
- A valid U.S. Social Security Number is required; Canadian SINs are not accepted
- Ability to stand and walk for most of the shift, with frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients
- Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs. and pinch up to 15 lbs.
Additional Information
- Provides direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for all age groups
- Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes
- Night shift orientation is conducted on day shift; candidates must be available the full orientation week
- Flu vaccination or a facility-approved exemption is required for assignments running November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
- Black scrubs required; hats, non-facility jackets/sweatshirts, and earbuds are not permitted
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate
- Candidates residing within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts; after that, a 1-year separation or transfer to a facility outside the 50-mile radius is required
- Up to 5 days of RTO is permitted but must be made up during the assignment
- Only 1 holiday RTO request is allowed per assignment
- The facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center, Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level 1 STEMI Center
