Description

American Traveler is hiring a Sonographer for a 13-week night shift assignment in an acute care hospital radiology/ultrasound department, requiring RDMS certification and a minimum of 2 years of experience.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting within a Radiology/Ultrasound department
  • Department has 4 scanning rooms — two dedicated to outpatient and two to inpatient imaging
  • Common studies include head and neck, whole body, and procedural imaging; MSK and vascular studies are not performed
  • Average caseload of approximately 30–40 scans per 10-hour shift across 4 techs
  • Equipment includes GE and Philips ultrasound systems
  • EMR is Epic; PACS is McKesson
  • Night shifts, 10 hours, Tuesday through Friday, 8:30 PM to 7:00 AM (schedule is flexible)
  • Weekend call coverage 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM may be requested on an as-needed basis
  • No regular on-call requirement
  • No floating to other departments required

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of sonography experience required
  • Active BLS certification required
  • RDMS certification required; RDMS-AB (Abdomen) via ARDMS required
  • OB certification preferred
  • Hands-on experience with head and neck and body scanning required
  • Active state or compact (NLC) license required if applicable; pending licenses are not accepted
  • 2 professional references required — one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • A copy of a valid driver's license is required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Performs head and neck, whole body, and procedural ultrasound studies
  • Works alongside a Lead Tech, Registered Radiology Assistants (RRAs), and an in-house radiologist
  • Orientation is generally 1–2 weeks depending on experience
  • Light blue scrubs required; scrubs are provided or candidates may wear their own
  • Holiday coverage may be requested but travelers are not required to accept
  • Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered
