  • Patient population includes post heart cath, TR band, CHF, COPD, post pacer placement, arrhythmias, and patients awaiting CABG consult
  • Average nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5, with the ability to flex to 1:6
  • PCTs are available on the unit with duties including ADLs, fingerstick blood sugars, and EKGs
  • Unit has monitor techs and serves as the central monitor station for the entire North Tower
  • Charge nurse coverage is available 24/7; travelers comfortable with charge responsibilities may be considered
  • Occasional high-flow oxygen therapy; BiPAP and CPAP used for supportive therapy only
  • Heparin titration required; Cardizem and Amiodarone are set-rate only; occasional Lasix or Bumex titration
  • Charting via Epic; experience preferred
  • 12-hour night shifts (1900–0730)
  • Every-other-weekend requirement; night weekend shifts include Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday
  • Floating is required and may include stepdown or, rarely, ICU; patients assigned will match the traveler's skillset
  • On-call or standby may occasionally occur during low census but is rare

Requirements

  • Active WV or Compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry or cardiac nursing experience

  • Holiday coverage may be required based on unit needs
  • Self-scheduling is available and block scheduling can be accommodated based on unit needs
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from this WVU facility to be eligible for travel pay
  • Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have a 2-year break in service before returning
  • Travelers may not work within WVU Medicine for more than one cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
