Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of 3 years of high-risk L&D experience, Epic proficiency, and the ability to circulate and provide newborn care.
Details
- High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit with 31 beds and an average daily census of 15 patients, performing 500–600 deliveries per month
- Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adults in substance recovery support programs, and community care clinic patients
- 4 operating rooms available on the unit
- Common medications administered include Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
- Epic EMR is required; electronic fetal monitoring experience required
- Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Schedule is posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- Float required to Postpartum and Antepartum units; may also float to sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care
Requirements
- Active WA RN license or valid Compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS and NRP
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate
- Minimum of 3 years of high-risk L&D experience required; 5 years strongly preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment required
- Must be able to circulate in the OR — hard stop requirement
- Must be able to function as a baby nurse during delivery, including newborn care (eyes, Vitamin K/thigh injections, and newborn assessments) — hard stop requirement
- Epic EMR experience required
- Electronic fetal monitoring experience required
- Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty required
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
- All required certifications must be current and provided for consideration
Additional Information
- Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
- RN will function as the baby nurse during delivery and continue care of the newborn until transfer to Postpartum
- Responsibilities include circulating in the OR and performing newborn care including eye prophylaxis, Vitamin K injections, and newborn assessments
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Former permanent employees of this specific Swedish facility must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; permanent employees from other Providence (non-Swedish) facilities are eligible after a 3-month separation
- All travelers are expected to float between facilities within the state; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
- Pre-approved time off (RTO) is considered on a case-by-case basis; minimal RTO is strongly preferred
