Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a high-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of 3 years of high-risk L&D experience, Epic proficiency, and the ability to circulate and provide newborn care.

Details

• High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit with 31 beds and an average daily census of 15, with 500–600 deliveries per month
• Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, patients supported by Adult Recovery Services for substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
• Unit includes 4 ORs and operates under AWHONN staffing guidelines
• Medications administered include heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate
• Electronic fetal monitoring used; Epic EMR is required (hard stop)
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
• Schedule posted every 6 weeks to meet unit needs, with every-other-weekend requirement and holiday coverage as needed
• Floating required to postpartum and antepartum, and may include float to sister facilities that handle Mother/Baby

Requirements

• Active WA RN license or compact RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS and NRP
• Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate
• Minimum of 3 years of high-risk L&D experience required; 5 years strongly preferred
• Must have experience in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must be able to circulate in the OR (hard stop requirement)
• Must be able to function as baby nurse during delivery, including newborn care: eye prophylaxis, Vitamin K (thigh) injections, and newborn assessments (hard stop requirement)
• Must pass clinical review
• Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Current proof of required certifications required for consideration
• Current Nursys verification required for consideration

• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• Former permanent employees of any Providence facility other than Swedish facilities are eligible for a travel contract after a separation of at least 3 months
• Candidates who previously worked at a Swedish facility as a permanent employee, traveler, or per diem must disclose the location(s) and dates worked
• Travelers are expected to float between all facilities within the state; refusal to float may result in termination of assignment
• Pre-approved time off (RTO) is considered on a case-by-case basis; minimal RTO is strongly preferred
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible as a traveler (applies to former permanent employees returning as travelers)
