Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at an Ambulatory Surgery Center, requiring Epic proficiency and a minimum of 1 year of OR experience.

Details

• Work setting is an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) with 4 OR rooms and 2 Endoscopy Suites
• Approximately 20–25 surgical cases and 12–15 endoscopy cases performed daily, Monday through Friday
• Patient population spans all ages, including pediatric patients as young as 12 months
• Lower acuity, same-day surgical cases including orthopedic (arthroscopy of shoulders, knees, and occasionally hips; podiatry), general surgery (hernia repair, appendectomies, laparoscopies), urology/gynecology (bladder stimulators, mesh slings), ENT (tonsils & adenoids, sialendoscopy, ear tubes), endoscopy (EGD, colonoscopies, sigmoidoscopy, Bravo procedures), interventional pain management (epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency ablations, cervical/lumbar injections), and ophthalmology (cataract surgery)
• No plastics cases
• Patients are recovered in their pre-op room; there is no dedicated PACU within the facility
• Patient ratios: Pre-Op 1:1, PACU/Phase I 1:1, Phase II 3:1
• OR RN shift hours: 0600–1530, Monday through Friday; no weekend rotation
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Facility is closed on major holidays
• Epic EMR required
• Float potential to up to 3 other affiliated Ambulatory Surgery Centers (approximately 20–25 minutes away) as needed, at any point during the shift
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• Minimum 1 year of core OR/Endoscopy RN experience, with most recent experience within the last year
• Endoscopy experience including procedural sedation required
• Experience with pre-op case cart preparation required
• Epic EMR experience required
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
• Candidate's middle name or initial required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include circulating in the OR, endoscopy procedures with procedural sedation, pre-op preparation, and Phase I & II PACU recovery and discharge
• Orientation begins with a facility tour and mandatory education training with the unit Educator on day one, followed by preceptored shifts based on experience and comfort level
• Support team includes a Director, Manager, Supervisor, Lead OR RN, and Anesthesia Team
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Free parking is available on-site; there is no cafeteria — candidates should plan to bring their own lunch
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved; any full week of time off may require a 1-week contract extension
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
