Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Illinois, requiring PICC line management and IV start experience.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting — Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds
- Medical Surgical unit
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
- Every other weekend required; if approved time off falls on a scheduled weekend, an additional weekend shift will be required to make up for the absence
- Floating is required for all travelers, both within the hospital and to nearby affiliate facilities
- No on-call requirements
- Charting in Cerner (experience preferred)
- Block scheduling is not available
Requirements
- Active Illinois (IL) RN license required
- Current BLS certification required; AHA and Red Cross accepted — RQI AHA cards are not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
- PICC line management experience required
- Proficiency in starting IVs required
- Willingness to care for trach and laryngectomy patients is required (prior experience not required)
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- 13-week assignment (approximately 3 months)
- Patient ratios are typically below 1:7; however, a maximum ratio of 1:7 may occur when needed
- Candidates must be willing to care for trach and laryngectomy patients and should be open to learning these specialized care needs
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- Local candidates are welcome to apply — no radius restriction
- Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- RTO is subject to manager approval based on unit scheduling needs; only 1 winter holiday may be requested off
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Scrubs may be any solid color
- Free parking is available with a permit obtained during orientation
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
