Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position in Rochester, NY, requiring telemetry skills, phlebotomy competency, and a valid NY RN license.

Details

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes cardiac and stroke diagnoses
• Day/evening patient ratios are 5:1 (with potential stretch to 6-7:1); night ratios are 6-7:1 (with potential stretch to 8-10:1 if staffing shortages occur)
• PCTs are available on all units and assist with vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within scope to similar units including MS, ICU, and ED
• Epic EMR used; prior experience preferred
• Hoyer lifts are used on this unit

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required; pending licensure is not accepted
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Phlebotomy and peripheral IV placement competency are mandatory for all RNs at this facility
• Proficiency in telemetry interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
• Experience with Rapid Response Teams, peripheral line care/management, non-invasive airway management, and isolation precautions required
• Experience with oxygen delivery devices including nasal cannula, face masks, and portable oxygen tanks required
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

• Scrub color requirement is any combination of navy and white
• No holiday time off (RTO) will be approved; general RTO is limited to no more than 7 days for the assignment
• Block scheduling requests will be considered but cannot be guaranteed
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years are required for consideration
• A full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required for consideration
