Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care (IMC) position with neuro experience, requiring night shifts and telemetry skills.

Details

  • Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) in a hospital setting, sub-specialized with neurological and medical intermediate patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:4 with a maximum unit census of 24 patients
  • 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
  • 36 or 48 hours per week available; contract length is 13–26 weeks
  • Schedule is built per unit needs to fill gaps
  • Floating required to other intermediate care areas and critical care
  • 3 weekends required every 6 weeks (6 total weekend shifts across Saturday and Sunday)
  • EMR: Epic; Medication dispensing: Pyxis; Communication: SBAR
  • Skills utilized include telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, IV insertion, and drip management

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license required; license may be pending at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; neuro experience strongly preferred
  • Telemetry, ventilator management, IV start, and drip experience required
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start
  • Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 2 years required prior to start (pending at time of consideration is acceptable)
  • Preferred certifications: CCRN, TNCC, and CPI
  • Preferred skills: triage, ICP monitoring, conscious sedation, and charge nurse experience

Additional Information

  • Orientation consists of 32 hours total: one 8-hour computer class plus two on-unit orientation shifts
  • 8–10 hours of pre-start online modules required; modules must also be completed annually
  • Scrub color requirement: any combination of navy blue and white
  • Candidates who previously worked for Novant Health or New Hanover (perm, PRN, or EP staff) must wait 12 months before being considered as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
  • Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved provided it does not fall on a holiday; no RTO is permitted during the first week of assignment due to orientation
  • Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • No RTO after booking is permitted; call-offs are strongly enforced and may result in contract cancellation
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible at a local rate
  • Travel pairs are allowed, provided each traveler has their own transportation and is comfortable with potentially different schedules
  • Candidates must demonstrate a teamwork approach and meet behavioral expectations in all patient and staff interactions

My phone showed her number as spam and I think blocked some of the texts I wish it hadn't have done that but that was nothing on her end all on mine so make sure that you have your settings to allow the calls and texts from spam
