Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele nights position requiring at least 2 years of MS/Tele experience, telemetry interpretation skills, and an active SC or compact RN license.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting with a total of 286 staffed beds
  • MS/Tele unit — a newly built unit currently operating with 10 beds, staffed by 2 RNs and 1 tech per shift
  • Patient ratio of 1:5-6
  • Bedside monitoring with telemetry, BP, and pulse ox capabilities
  • Charting via Epic
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
  • Every other weekend is required and non-negotiable
  • Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
  • No on-call requirements
  • No off-shift management on-site, though leadership is available by phone; 24/7 house supervisor coverage is provided

Requirements

  • Active SC RN license or compact license; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered but must have it active before starting
  • Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele nursing experience required
  • Experience in telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias required
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • SSN and driver's license required for consideration
  • 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates who have previously worked as permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
  • Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; non-local candidates are given priority
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront and is subject to facility approval based on scheduling needs
  • Orientation modules are completed prior to the start date
  • Royal blue scrubs required
  • On-site parking is provided at no cost
  • Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November), all staff and contractors may be assigned to emergency response duties; peak activity occurs in August and September
