Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position at a Level 1 Trauma Academic Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC, requiring a minimum of 1 year of CVICU experience and hands-on circulatory support skills.

- 22-bed CVICU in a 885-bed Level 1 Trauma Academic Medical Center with Chest Pain and Stroke Center designations
- Surgical and medical cardiac critical care unit treating post-CABG, valve replacement/repair, thoracic aortic aneurysms, and patients requiring Impella and IABP management
- RN-to-patient ratio of 1:2; CNA support at 1:20
- 12-hour night shifts starting at 18:30, 36 hours per week
- EMR: Epic (experience preferred); equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, and NxStage CRRT
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Floating required within other critical care departments, including PCU (1:3) and MS (1:4)
- No on-call or callback requirements
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; CCRN preferred
- Minimum 1 year of CVICU experience, with most recent experience within the last year
- Proficiency in post-cardiac assessment and management of circulatory support devices (IABP, Impella, LVAD, ECMO)
- Ability to titrate vasoactive and antiarrhythmic medications and interpret cardiac waveforms and hemodynamic monitoring
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply with qualifying CVICU experience
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
- Orientation includes one week of facility-wide NEO followed by 2–3 days of departmental orientation
- Unit support includes 24/7 CNA, receptionist, charge nurse, phlebotomy (nurse draw), respiratory therapy, and intensivist coverage
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- Required scrub color: Royal Blue
