Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position at an acute care hospital in Oregon, requiring active OR licensure and night shift availability.
Details
- 19-bed Med/Surg unit in an acute care hospital setting
- Patient population includes CHF, diabetic complications and wounds, pneumonia, COPD exacerbations, hip fractures, COVID-19, and post-op surgical patients (TURPs, hip/knee replacements, cholecystectomy, appendectomy); general pediatric patients also possible
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: max 1:4-5 on days, 1:5 on nights
- CNA support available: 1-3 on day shift, 1 on night shift
- Telemetry monitored by CCU staff; tele board is visible to Med/Surg staff
- RT equipment on unit includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
- Drip titration required infrequently; common drips include Heparin and Bumex
- Charting system: MEDITECH
- 12-hour night shifts, 1900–0730
- Every other weekend requirement
- Holiday coverage is negotiable
- Floating may be required; RNs not fully cross-trained are expected to assist as 'helping hands'
- Low census call requirement: must be available to report within 30 minutes if called back
Requirements
- Active OR RN license (State or Compact/NLC) required; pending licenses not accepted
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS — all must be active; pending certifications not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- General Med/Surg experience required
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- Candidates may apply using the OR 90-Day Emergency License if an OR RN license is not yet held at the time of application
- Orientation consists of 3–6 shifts, with additional time provided if needed
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility may be ineligible for travel pay rates; a driver's license is used to confirm permanent address
- Local candidates are accepted
