Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ED RN for a night shift travel assignment at a freestanding emergency department in Derby, KS, requiring at least 1 year of acute care ED experience and multiple certifications including TNCC.
Details
- Freestanding emergency department (FSED) setting in Derby, KS
- 52-bed unit with a staff of 134
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 13-week travel assignment
- Patient ratios average 3:1, with low acuity cases at 5:1; pediatric patients managed with team nursing
- Common procedures include IV starts, medication administration, procedural sedation, and pediatric care
- Alaris infusion pumps used on unit
- EMR: Meditech (experience preferred)
- Day and night shifts each staffed with 1 charge nurse, 4 nurses, 1 tech, 1 unit clerk, 1 physician, and 1 midlevel per pod
Requirements
- Active KS RN license or compact RN license required
- Minimum 1 year of acute care hospital ED RN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale, PALS, TNCC, and CPI (or accepted equivalent: SAMA, MAB, or ACPMA)
- ENPC certification preferred
- Meditech EMR experience preferred
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume ED environment required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- All certifications must be from AHA or ARC and must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start
- Ideal candidates are adaptable, self-sufficient, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, diverse environment
- The team values quick learners who can work independently from day one
- Candidates with experience at large, high-volume facilities will be prioritized
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply if they meet the experience and certification requirements
