Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a CVICU position at a Level I Trauma Academic Medical Center, requiring at least 2 years of experience and comfort with both cardiac ICU and stepdown patients.
Details
- Hybrid CVICU unit consisting of 8 cardiac ICU beds and 6 cardiac stepdown beds
- ICU patient population is primarily CT Surgery pre- and post-op, with occasional Advanced Heart Failure cases
- Stepdown patient population includes CT Surgery, peripheral vascular (PV), and Heart Failure patients
- Daily nursing assignments rotate between the ICU and stepdown sides of the unit
- Average patient ratio of 1:3
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within the unit between ICU and stepdown is expected; floating to another unit may also occur based on facility need
- Candidates must be comfortable with HVC (High Velocity Care)
- No on-call requirements
- Charting is done in Epic
- Short-term acute care hospital with 1,567 total staffed beds
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active CT or compact RN license required (pending license accepted, but must be active prior to start date)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior experience in a cardiac ICU or CVICU setting required
- Trauma center experience at a large facility required
- No prior disciplinary actions or priors on nursing license
- 1 professional reference required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 2 years before being considered as a traveler
- RTO of 7 days or fewer may be auto-approved; requests exceeding 7 days require facility approval
- Flu vaccine is required; declinations are not accepted
- COVID vaccine required; religious and medical exemptions are accepted
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Parking is available at a cost of approximately $125/month
- As a Level I Trauma Academic Medical Center with over 1,500 beds, candidates should have experience working in a similarly large, high-acuity environment
