Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVOR position at a large academic Level I Trauma Center, requiring both scrub and circulate experience in cardiac, thoracic, and vascular cases.
Details
- Work in the Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) of a large short-term acute care academic hospital with 1,266 staffed beds
- Primary case types include cardiac and thoracic surgery, with additional cases in vascular (open and endovascular), transplant (liver, kidney, pancreas), and pancreatic (Whipple) procedures
- Schedule is 4x10-hour shifts, Monday–Friday, with rotating start times as needed (core hours approximately 6:15 AM–4:45 PM)
- On-call is required as needed, with approximately 3–4 weekday and 1–2 weekend call shifts per 6-week scheduling period (subject to change based on unit needs)
- Holiday coverage required, discussed in advance
- Floating within the CVOR service line is required to meet facility needs
- Block scheduling is not available
- Charting is performed in Epic
Requirements
- Active MO RN license (or Compact RN license) required; must be valid at time of consideration — pending IL license may be accepted with notation
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience required; candidates with 1 year of experience may be considered if that experience was gained at a Level I Trauma Facility
- Scrub and circulate experience in cardiac, thoracic, and vascular cases required
- BSN preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- First-time travelers may be considered only if they have more than 2 years of experience at a Level I Trauma Facility
- Local candidates are not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Travelers may remain at this health system for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
- Former permanent employees of this health system must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Navy scrubs are required
- This is a Level I Trauma, academic teaching facility
