Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a Level I Trauma, academic teaching hospital in New Mexico, requiring NRP certification and demonstrated experience in a large L&D unit.
Details
- Labor & Delivery unit within a Level I Trauma, Children's Hospital, and academic teaching hospital with 554 staffed beds
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Day shift schedule, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM, with 36-hour (3x12) or 48-hour (4x12) weekly contract options available
- On-call is required: 12 hours over a 4-week period for 4x12 contracts, or 24 hours over a 4-week period for 3x12 contracts
- Floating within scope is required, including to antepartum and postpartum units
- Procedures and cases include cerclage, version, C-section (C/S), postpartum tubal ligation (PPTL), external and internal fetal monitoring, AROM, medically assisted deliveries, C-hysterectomy, neonatal palliative care, nitrous oxide, massive transfusion protocol, and malignant hyperthermia
- Charting is performed in Cerner
- Purple scrubs are provided by the facility
- No parking fee
Requirements
- Active NM RN license or compact RN license required; NM license may be pending at time of consideration
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NRP — NRP must be in hand at time of consideration due to limited availability of NRP classes
- No RQI certifications accepted
- Minimum 1 year of L&D nursing experience required
- Experience in a large L&D unit or facility is required
- Must have experience with 3s/4s in postpartum, newborn nursing, and meconium deliveries
- Circulate and fetal heart monitoring (FHM) skills required
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Weekend scheduling cannot be guaranteed for traveling staff at this time
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed
- RTO requests exceeding 7 days require facility approval; all time-off requests should be submitted at the time of initial consideration
- All time-off and scheduling requests should be disclosed upfront
- Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark must take a 6-month break before returning
- New contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks in length
- COVID vaccination is optional; however, the facility is required to report vaccine numbers, so documentation of the vaccine series or a signed declination form will be needed
