Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical/Surgical position on an innovative 32-bed unit, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and availability for night shifts with every other weekend coverage.

Details

• Position is based in a 32-bed Medical/Surgical unit (2 West – Medical Innovation Unit, Rooms 221-248) focused on new technologies and innovative nursing practice
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday rotation applies; staff are expected to work assigned holidays in rotation (one summer and one winter holiday)
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Staff are assigned to self-scheduling groups that rotate each scheduling period (weekly)
• Floating to other units required at times to cover staffing needs

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA or Compact) currently in hand — pending licensure not accepted
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

• Unit serves as a catalyst for adopting new technologies, equipment, and nursing practice models — team members are early adopters
• Hercules beds are used on this unit
• On the first day of the assignment, the RN will complete a drug screen at Employee Health and will not be assigned clinical duties; the first clinical shift begins on the following day (Tuesday)
• Any requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed upfront during the consideration process
• Holiday coverage expectation: work 1 holiday if 1 falls in the assignment, 1 of 2 if two fall in the assignment, and 2 of 3 if three fall in the assignment
