Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Cardiovascular Medical/Telemetry unit at a major academic medical center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and active WV or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work setting is a 838-bed short-term acute care hospital, Level IV Trauma Center, and major teaching hospital (COTH member)
- 38-bed Cardiovascular Medical/Telemetry unit (3W) with an emphasis on cardiovascular disease patients
- Team nursing model with a ratio of 1:7, with each team consisting of 1 RN, 1 LPN, and 1 Nursing Assistant
- Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, with the option of a 3x12 (36 hrs/wk) or 4x12 (48 hrs/wk) schedule
- Every other weekend required
- Floating to other units may be required to meet facility needs
- No on-call requirement
- Charting via Cerner (SBAR, Accudose)
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license required; candidates with a pending RN license may be considered
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Telemetry experience required, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Two manager or charge nurse references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Driver's License and Social Security card required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided experience requirements are met
- Orientation is held every other Thursday
- RNs serve as patient advocates and collaborate with interdisciplinary health team members to deliver quality nursing care
- The unit offers a learning-focused environment supporting staff growth through education, certification, and career development
- Royal blue or white scrubs required for RNs
- Flu vaccine is required during flu season (October 1 – March 31); a medical exemption documented by an allergist or physician is the only accepted exemption
- Blocked schedule requests will be considered — discuss during the interview
- RTO requests should be noted on your application and discussed with the manager during the interview; no more than 1 of the 3 major holidays may be requested off
- Candidates who were previously permanent employees may not return as a traveler until 2 years after their last day of permanent employment
- Candidates residing between 75–99 miles of the facility may be submitted for facility approval; a 100-mile radius rule otherwise applies
- Free parking is available for travelers
