Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Interventional Radiology Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of IR experience, ARRT certification, and proficiency in a broad range of vascular, abdominal, neurological, and genitourinary procedures.
Details
- Interventional Radiology unit within a large acute care hospital (650 beds) with 3 procedure rooms and approximately 20 visits per day
- Procedures include stroke intervention, intracranial embolization, kyphoplasty, carotid and vertebral stenting, nephrostomy, biliary placement, chemoembolization, Therasphere mapping and infusion, mesenteric angiogram, UAE, GAE, PAE, chest port placement, and perm cath placement
- Required procedural skills include angioplasty, embolization, IVC filter placement and removal, TIPS, carotid angiography, thrombolysis/thrombectomy, central venous access/PICC line placement, and vertebroplasty
- Primary equipment includes GE Innova Single Plane and Siemens Artis Biplane (x2); fluoroscopy experience required
- EMR: Epic (required); Pyxis also used on unit
- 5x8-hour day shifts, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
- Call requirement: one day per week on a rotating schedule (Tuesday, Thursday, Monday, Wednesday, Weekend)
- Weekend requirement: approximately one weekend every 6–7 weeks
- No float requirement
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of Interventional Radiology experience required
- ARRT and BLS certifications required; license required if applicable
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency with fluoroscopy required
- Experience with a broad range of IR procedures including abdominal/pelvic, genitourinary, neurological, and vascular studies required
- Skills in equipment setup, sterile field maintenance, room circulation, prep of access site, sterile technique, and isolation precautions/PPE required
- Lead tech experience and familiarity with Rapid Response/Code team protocols required
- 3D imaging experience required
- Previous stroke-certified hospital experience preferred
- ARRT CI and/or ARRT VI certifications preferred
- Experience with GE Innova IGS, Siemens, and ultrasound preferred
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 2 years required (pending at time of consideration is acceptable, but must be on file prior to start)
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include equipment setup and maintenance, PACS operation, supply stocking, sterile field maintenance, and serving as room circulator
- Orientation is approximately 40 hours; the start date may fall on a Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of the first week based on class and trainer availability — candidates must be fully available with no other commitments during the first week
- Pre-completion of 8–10 hours of online modules is required prior to the start date and annually thereafter
- Candidates must be prepared to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- No RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation; up to 7 days of RTO may be approved thereafter, provided it does not fall on a holiday
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility as permanent, PRN, or employed staff must wait 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler
- Local candidates are accepted; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility may be eligible at a different pay rate
- Light blue scrubs required; scrubs are not provided
- Travel pairs are allowed, provided each traveler has their own transportation and is comfortable with potentially different schedules
