Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring strong cardiac and post-op experience, telemetry skills, and night shift availability.
Details
- PCU setting within a hospital environment, with a focus on post cardiac surgery and post vascular surgery patients
- Strong cardiac and post-operative heart experience is essential for this unit
- Patient ratios of 1:3–5 based on acuity
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Every other weekend required; consecutive weekends may be needed based on operational needs
- Travelers may be expected to float to different levels of care including Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU at both affiliated hospital campuses — refusal to float may result in contract termination
- Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned as needed, with training and resources provided
- Cerner charting experience required
- Level I or Level II Trauma facility experience required
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand
- RN degree from a nursing school accredited by ACEN or CCNE at the time of graduation
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or RQI accepted)
- Minimum 18 months of RN experience
- Level I or Level II Trauma experience required
- Telemetry experience required
- IV insertion skills required
- Experience titrating cardiac drips required
- 2 supervisor references required for consideration
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- COVID vaccination required; medical or religious exemptions accepted with supporting documentation
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Indiana residents are considered local and are not eligible for this position
- Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have a 12-month break in IU employment before applying as a traveler
- Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health are required to take a consecutive break to reset eligibility: out-of-state residents require a 90-day break; in-state residents require a 180-day break
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved
