Description

American Traveler is hiring an IR Technologist for a 13-week travel assignment in an acute care, Level II Trauma facility with 2+ years of IR experience and active BLS and ACLS certifications required.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting with a Level II Trauma designation
  • IR/Vascular unit with 7 total procedure rooms (4 Cath Lab/EP and 3 IR/Vascular)
  • IR cases include port placements, liver biopsies, IVC placements, G-tube placements, PICC and central line placements, and neuro cases (coiling, thrombectomy, embolizations — anesthesia supported)
  • Vascular cases include fem-pops, AAA repair, carotids, EVAR, angios, and more
  • Average of 20+ cases per day across all rooms
  • Daily IR staffing consists of 1 RN and 2 Techs; anesthesia supports neuro cases
  • 4x10-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with a rotating day off
  • Weeknight call rotation approximately once every 3 weekdays; weekend call rotation approximately once every 3 weekends (Friday–Monday)
  • 30-minute call response time required
  • May be asked to cover holiday call
  • Hybrid floating for vascular cases
  • Charting in Cerner (transitioning to Epic)

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of IR experience required
  • Active BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications required
  • License required if applicable
  • Cerner EMR experience; facility is transitioning to Epic
  • Experience with IR and vascular procedures including device exchange, guidewire manipulation, catheter placement, balloon and stent deployment, and radiation dose management
  • Ability to scrub in and assist physicians with interventional procedures
  • 2 professional references required for consideration — 1 supervisor reference within the last 12 months of relevant experience and 1 peer or supervisor reference within the last 3 years of relevant specialty experience

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include preparing procedure suites, ensuring radiation safety setup, calibrating and troubleshooting fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring equipment, pulling supplies, setting up sterile tables, scrubbing in to assist physicians, managing imaging angles and radiation dose, performing sheath removals, and handling room turnover and restocking
  • Equipment includes Siemens imaging systems and Merge PACS
  • Orientation consists of approximately 2–3 full days of training and shadowing, including buddy call; no solo call during the first week, buddy call during the second week
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility; personal scrub caps are permitted
  • Candidates who have previously worked at this facility as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their consideration date, and hospital approval is required
  • Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, which affects the travel pay rate
