Description
American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Sonographer for a 13-week travel contract in an Echocardiography unit at a Level II Trauma Center and Certified Stroke Center, with a minimum of 1 year of experience required.
Details
- Echocardiography unit within a Level II Trauma Center and Certified Stroke Center serving approximately two-thirds of the state of Maine
- Adult inpatient and outpatient population
- Routine scans include structural heart studies, cardiac echos, TEE, and stress tests
- Department has 7 echo-capable imaging rooms
- Average daily caseload of 60–70 patients across inpatient and outpatient settings
- EMR: Cerner (Philips equipment used)
- 4x10-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Weekend rotation shared with other staff; details discussed during interview
- Call rotation of approximately 1 night per week (preferred staff only)
- Holiday coverage is considered part of the weekend/call rotation (preferred staff only)
- Floating may occur within the facility only
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer
- BLS and ARDMS required
- CCI-RCS preferred
- License required if applicable
- Must have a compact or ME state license to be considered
- Candidate's permanent address must be 100+ miles south/southwest of the facility
- Candidates who have previously worked at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacity are not eligible
- Must be able to work with adult inpatient and outpatient populations
- 2 professional references within the past year required, at least one from a Supervisor, Manager, or Director (Charge Nurse acceptable; peer references not accepted)
- Full SSN, Driver's License, and copies of all certifications required for consideration
- Flu vaccination required for clearance (medical exemptions only, subject to facility approval)
Additional Information
- Perform cardiac echos including TEE and stress tests for adult inpatient and outpatient populations
- Supported by an Echo Supervisor, 6–9 additional sonographers, and 7 cardiologists within the department
- One week of orientation provided
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates living 100+ miles north of the facility may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at the time of consideration
- Teal scrubs required
