Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU (Progressive Care Unit) Float Pool position at a high-acuity cardiac center of excellence in the Denver, CO area, requiring a minimum of 1 year of acute care PCU experience and active CO or compact RN license.
Details
- High-acuity Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a cardiac center of excellence
- Float Pool assignment covering the Cardiology unit (5th Floor, Northwest Tower)
- 30-bed unit staffed by RNs and PCTs, with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 to 1:5
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Cardiac and thoracic patient population including post-cath, post-thoracic surgery, and open-heart surgical patients
- Procedures include post-cath care (right/left heart caths, TAVRs, ablations, Watchmans, pacemaker implantations), TR band management, neurovascular checks, post-thoracic surgery care (VATs/RATs, resections, lobectomies, chest tube management), and pre/post open-heart surgical care (CABGs, MVRs, AVRs, aortic dissection repairs), as well as vascular surgery post-op care
- Equipment includes telemetry monitors, transport monitors, suction, feeding pumps, trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, heated high-flow O2, chest tubes, Foley catheters, pacer wires/pacers, IV pumps, and SCD pumps
- EMR: Meditech
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active CO RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent acute care PCU hospital experience
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration — no exceptions
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more in the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Preferred skills include chest tube management and removal, pacer wire removal, 12-lead EKGs, O2 management up to BiPAP and heated high-flow, and drip management (heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, Lasix, dobutamine, milrinone, ketamine)
- Fast-paced, high-acuity cardiac unit ideal for nurses who are team-oriented, high-energy, flexible, and collaborative
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
- No previous permanent employment with this facility or health system is permitted
