Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position in Alaska, requiring an active, unrestricted Alaska RN license and current BLS and PALS certifications.
Details
- Emergency Department (ED) setting within a hospital environment
- Patients of all ages including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations
- Variable shift schedule including days and nights
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active, unrestricted Alaska RN license required at time of consideration
- Current BLS and PALS required; ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of hire
- One year of clinical RN experience preferred, with prior ED experience preferred
- Flu vaccination required
- Proficiency with emergency procedures such as intubation, arterial line setup, arterial blood gas puncture, and chest tube setup
- Competency with emergency medical equipment including defibrillators, monitors, EKG machines, and ventilators
- Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to accurately document and retrieve patient data
Additional Information
- Provides comprehensive nursing care to ED patients of all ages, including triage, assessment, care planning, and discharge coordination
- Makes independent clinical decisions during assigned shifts and maintains full accountability for all actions taken
- Assists with orientation of new staff, travelers, and students
- May float to other units as needed to support nursing services
- Participates in staff meetings, completes annual competencies, and maintains required certifications and licensure
- Start date will be no earlier than 5 weeks after fingerprint cards are received in Juneau for processing
- Facility dress code compliance is required
