Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg travel assignment at a Magnet-designated Level I Trauma Center, requiring at least 5 years of experience and a valid MO or compact RN license.

Details

• Night shift position working 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Patient-to-nurse ratios of 1:4–6
• Unit receives patients from the ED, OR, and ICU
• Patient population includes geriatric trauma (55+), MVA/MVC victims, falls, abuse/violence cases, TBI, ortho trauma, acute care surgery (appendicitis, gallbladder, hernia repairs, fistulas, wounds, burns), and total joint replacements
• Specialized procedures include blood product administration, peripheral line care/management, phlebotomy, IV starts, insulin management, PCA, peripheral nerve block catheters, surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, oral suctioning, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
• Special equipment includes lifts, restraints, wound vacs, traction, and external fixators
• Charting via Epic (experience required)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• No on-call requirements
• 13-week contract with option to work 36 or 48 hours per week
• Short-term acute care hospital with 1,266 staffed beds — Magnet-designated, teaching hospital, and Level I Trauma Center

Requirements

• Active MO state RN license required at time of consideration; compact license accepted if applicable
• Minimum 5 years of RN experience required
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia management required — must pass a Relias EKG exam
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with Med/Surg skills including spinal cord injuries, TBI, ortho trauma, chest tubes, and respiratory support modalities required
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

• Navy blue scrubs required
• No RTO during the first week of orientation; no more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract
• Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Travelers may remain for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
• Parking passes are available for purchase at various lots and garages on or near campus; costs and availability vary by location
