Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical ICU (MICU) position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring at least 1.5 years of ICU experience and ACLS/BLS certifications.

- Medical ICU (MICU) setting within a large, 1,266-bed short-term acute care hospital designated as a Magnet and Level I Trauma teaching facility
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Option to work either 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required within the ICU service line, including to medical-surgical areas within the ICU service line
- No on-call requirements
- Charting via Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or compact license required; pending IL license may be accepted with notation
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum of 1.5 years of ICU experience required; 1.5 years of MICU experience preferred
- Candidates with fewer than 2 years of experience must have Level I Trauma center experience
- Experience in a 20+ bed ICU required
- Must pass a Relias EKG exam; EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia management skills required
- Experience with pressor support, ETTs, trachs, feeding tubes, chest tubes, and wound care required
- Proficiency in sterile technique for line insertion, paracentesis, bedside trach placement, chest tubes, bronchoscopy, and phlebotomy required
- Epic EMR experience required
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Standard travelers may remain for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Preferred experience includes CRRT, Swan-Ganz catheter, inhaled and IV Flolan, CVVHD, proning, and MTP/Level 1 Rapid Transfuser
- Required scrub color is navy blue
- Parking passes are available at various on-campus locations at the traveler's expense; night shift workers may park in employee parking at no charge
