Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel Occupational Therapist for an acute care hospital position at a large Level I trauma teaching facility, requiring at least 1 year of experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Primary inpatient acute care setting within a large short-term acute care hospital (1,259 staffed beds)
- Level I trauma, academic teaching hospital
- Patient populations include cardiopulmonary, neurological, orthopedic, medicine, trauma, surgical, and oncology
- Utilizes SPH equipment, vital carts, iPad interpreter, and ADL supplies
- Charting performed in Epic
- Day shift, Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts (0700–1530, with flexibility to start as late as 0800)
- One weekend (Saturday and Sunday) required per 4-week period, with a corresponding weekday off that week
- No on-call requirement
- Clinician may float to any therapy service line within scope to meet facility needs; no floating to sister facilities required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Current, active OT license required at time of consideration; MO State License required; IL candidates may be considered with a pending IL license (must be noted)
- Minimum 1 year of OT experience required
- Acute care experience required; Level I trauma hospital experience preferred
- Current BLS certification required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with a variety of patient populations
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Establish individualized treatment plans that account for discharge needs, expected functional status, and appropriate equipment and supplies
- Educate and collaborate with patients, families, and the broader healthcare team, including making referrals to specialists as appropriate
- Delegate to OT assistants and techs through written and verbal communication, matching interventions to appropriate skill levels
- Complete documentation in accordance with departmental policies
- Black or gray scrubs required
- Monthly parking passes are available at various locations and price points; parking information is provided during orientation
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any facility in this health system as a traveler
- Allied travelers may work at this health system for up to 12 months, after which a 6-month break in service is required
