Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a fast-paced adult surgical and trauma unit requiring a minimum of 1.5 years of recent Med/Surg experience and a NH or Compact RN license.

Details

• 36-bed adult surgical unit serving primarily trauma and acute care surgical patients
• Common diagnoses include spinal cord injuries (new quadriplegics and paraplegics), traumatic brain injuries, orthopedic trauma, hernia repair, small bowel obstructions, appendectomy, and cholecystectomy
• Unit includes 2 negative pressure rooms serving COVID patients
• RN-to-patient ratios: 1:4 on days and 1:5 on nights
• LNA-to-patient ratio: 1:12
• 48-hour work week
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NH RN license or Compact RN license required (proof of state residency required for Compact license holders)
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum of 1.5 years of recent Med/Surg experience required
• Recent Level I Trauma center experience required; Level II Trauma experience of several years may be considered
• Trauma experience must be within the last 2 years
• Experience with chest tubes, trachs/laryngectomies, telemetry, and complex wound care required
• Experience managing IV drips including Diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, and amiodarone required
• Experience with lines, tubes, and drains for post-surgical patients required
• Central line care, maintenance, and blood draws experience required
• 2 professional references from managers required for consideration

• Focus of care is on rehabilitating and supporting patients recovering from trauma and acute surgical procedures
• Unit operates at a high acuity and fast pace, requiring strong clinical judgment and prioritization skills
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
