Description
American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level II trauma hospital in Corpus Christi, TX, requiring TNCC certification and at least 1 year of ED experience.
Details
- 13-week contract in a hospital Emergency Department
- ED is located on the first floor of the facility and features 16 beds with 8 additional hall chairs
- Patient ratios are 1:4 for low acuity ESI 4 & 5 patients, with potential to take up to 6 patients
- Staffing per shift includes 1 charge nurse, 1 triage nurse, 4–5 floor nurses (including one mid-shift), 1 unit secretary, and 1–2 techs
- Equipment used includes cardiac monitors, Baxter IV pumps, HPs, and Tonopen
- EMR system is Meditech, with vital signs flowing directly into the chart
- Day shift hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Requirements
- Active TX RN license or compact RN license required
- Minimum 1 year of recent ED nursing experience required
- Level II or Level III trauma center experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and either ENPC or PALS
- CPI certification required (SAMA, MAB, or ACPMA may be accepted in lieu of CPI)
- NIH Stroke Certification required for ED RNs
- Preferred certifications: CEN or TCRN
- More than 2 years of ED experience preferred
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
Additional Information
- Typical procedures include patient assessments, documentation, medication administration, wound care, splinting, IV placement, urine collection, lab draws, and care for ESI 5 through ESI 1
- The facility is actively transitioning from a Level IV to a Level II trauma hospital
- Mandatory shift huddles held at 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM; attendance is required unless actively providing critical care
- EMTALA training is mandatory
- Royal blue scrubs are preferred; team jerseys may be worn on Sundays in the spirit of seasonal team spirit
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date
