Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Dept position requiring Level II/III trauma experience and TNCC, ENPC or PALS, ACLS and BLS certifications.
Details
- Work in a 16-bed Emergency Department with 8 additional hall chairs
- Day shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 1 triage nurse, 4-5 nurses, 1 unit secretary, and 1-2 techs
- Night shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 1 triage nurse, 4-5 nurses, unit secretary until midnight, and 1 tech
- Patient ratio of 1:4 for low acuity patients (ESI 4 & 5), may take up to 6
- Care provided across full acuity range from ESI 5 through ESI 1
- Uses cardiac monitors, Baxter IV pumps, HP monitors, Tonopen, and other equipment
- EMR is Meditech with vital signs flowing directly into the chart
- 12-hour day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Mandatory shift huddle attendance at 7am and 7pm unless providing critical care at that time
- 13-week assignment
Requirements
- Active TX or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: TNCC, ENPC or PALS, ACLS, and BLS
- Level II or Level III trauma experience required
- Minimum 1 year of recent emergency department experience required
- Greater than 2 years of ED experience preferred
- CEN or TCRN certification preferred
- CPI certification preferred
- No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Perform patient assessments, documentation, medication administration, wound care, splinting, and IV insertion
- Conduct urine collection and lab draws
- Provide timely care for stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and trauma patients
- Facility is transitioning from a Level IV to a Level II trauma hospital
- EMTALA training is mandatory
- Scrub color preference is royal blue
- Team encourages wearing sports team jerseys on Sundays for seasonal team spirit
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
- Compassion, urgency, and teamwork are emphasized as core values on this unit
