Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a high-volume, high-acuity hospital in St. Louis, MO, requiring a minimum of 2 years of recent L&D experience and active MO or compact RN license.
Details
- Labor & Delivery unit in an acute care hospital setting with a Level 3 NICU and approximately 8,000 deliveries per year
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3x12-hour shifts per week
- Patient ratio is 1:2 on L&D; 3–4 patients on Antepartum L&B
- Rotating weekend shifts required
- Rotating holiday coverage required
- Floating between Labor & Delivery and Antepartum as needed
- No on-call requirements
- EMR: Epic
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS and NRP
- EFM training and Intermediate AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery / Labor & Birth experience in an acute care hospital setting
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage laboring patients, including high-risk obstetric cases
- Strong skills in fetal monitoring and interpretation, labor support, medication administration, IV therapy, and OB emergencies
- Experience in a team-based, high-acuity environment
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and time management skills
- U.S. Social Security Number required; Canadian SINs are not accepted
- No employment gaps of 90 or more days within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Provides comprehensive nursing care to laboring, delivering, and immediate postpartum patients in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting
- Collaborates closely with OB providers, anesthesia, NICU, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care
- Must be comfortable floating between L&D and Antepartum and managing varying patient ratios
- Black scrubs required
- Flu vaccination is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; exemptions must be client-approved
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but are subject to a reduced bill rate
- Local candidates within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before requiring a minimum 1-year separation or a transfer to a facility outside the 50-mile radius
- Up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) is allowed but must be made up during the assignment
- Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment unless documented renewal is scheduled
