Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week travel contract at an orthopedic hospital in Houston, TX, with large joint and spine experience required.
Details
- Located in a 2nd floor Operating Room within a hospital setting in Houston, TX
- Facility has 17 Operating Rooms and is not trauma designated
- Specializes in orthopedic procedures including large joints, hand, feet, scopes, and spine — no neurosurgery
- One scrub and one circulator per room; support techs available for positioning and other duties
- Most surgeons have a PA, CST, or NP to assist during surgery
- Day shift hours: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM (Mon/Wed/Fri huddle at 6:45 AM; shift may extend to 5:15 PM on those days as there is no second shift relief)
- Call required approximately 4 times per month, Monday–Friday only; no weekend call — most call consists of staying over to finish cases
- EMR: Meditech
Requirements
- Active TX RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of assignment start)
- Minimum 1 year of recent OR nursing experience
- Large joint and spine orthopedic experience required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
- Candidate preferred to be well-versed in total joints and spine procedures
- Ciel blue (sky blue) scrubs required; the facility does not provide scrubs
