Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ED/Med-Surg Swing position at an acute care hospital in North Dakota, requiring at least 2 years of experience and active BLS and ACLS certifications.

Details

• ED/Med-Surg Swing unit in an acute care hospital setting with 22 beds
• Patient ratios are 1:4 for acute care, 1:6 for swing beds, and 1:4 in the ED
• Patient population includes a broad range of diagnoses across ED and med-surg swing bed settings
• RNs are required to titrate drips, including standard titratable and set-rate drips
• Respiratory equipment includes nebulizers, O2 (nasal and mask), ventilators (used in ED and during transport only), and CPAP (patient-supplied for swing bed patients)
• Telemetry is present on the unit; ED RNs are responsible for reading telemetry strips
• Charting is performed in Epic
• 12-hour day and night shifts available (7a–7p and 7p–7a)
• Every other weekend requirement
• Every other holiday requirement
• Flex/standby time may be required
• Floating to ED holds may be required; charge nurse responsibilities may also be assigned
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active ND or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses are not accepted
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications are not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• At least 1 year of med-surg experience required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• A valid driver's license is required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility

Additional Information

• Provides nursing care across both ED and med-surg swing bed patients, with responsibilities that may include charge nurse duties
• May float to ED holds as needed
• Unit orientation is provided; approximately 12 orientation hours
• Scrubs of any color are permitted
• Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• Candidates who have worked permanently or PRN directly at this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
