Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU/Neuroscience Intermediate Care position requiring telemetry competency, ventilator experience, and Epic proficiency on a 13-week night shift contract in Ohio.
Details
- 36-bed Neuroscience/High-Risk Respiratory unit functioning as an intermediate care setting
- Mixed acuity unit serving med-surge and intermediate care patients, including CVA, TIA, seizures, and neuro populations
- High-risk respiratory patient population, including use of heated high-flow oxygen and BiPAP
- Targeted patient ratio of 1:4-6
- Unit operates under a team nursing model where RNs, LPNs, and PCTs collaborate to care for patient groups, with nurses functioning in either team or primary nursing based on unit needs
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
- Travelers are first to float at the facility's discretion, including to specialty clusters, high-risk respiratory units, and the Neuro ICU
- Floating may occur across multiple campuses within a 15-mile radius of the main campus
Requirements
- Active OH RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); IV start preferred
- Step-down (SD) or PCU experience required — ICU experience does not substitute for SD/PCU experience at this facility
- Documented 1:5 ratio experience in a SD or PCU setting must be reflected in work history
- Ventilator experience required
- Must pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to starting the assignment
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Provides skilled nursing care to a diverse intermediate care patient population including neurological and high-risk respiratory patients
- Staff may be assigned to and support the Neuro ICU, working alongside a designated buddy nurse
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Any RTO requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration — no RTO will be added after an offer is made; approval is at the manager's discretion
