Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Trauma Level III teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and a valid NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Work setting is a 457-bed Trauma Level III teaching hospital with designations including Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence
• Unit is the Emergency Department, serving a broad patient population including trauma (GSW, stabbing, MVA, falls), stroke, heart failure, chest pain, COPD, cardiac cath pre-op, ETOH/CIWA, IVDA, mental health, respiratory illnesses, GI disorders, liver failure, and AKI/CKD
• Patient ratio is 1:5 max, acuity dependent
• 12-hour night shifts (1900–0700), 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• Floating is required across Region 1 facilities, which may include Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, freestanding EDs within the region, and the Central Division (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH)
• No on-call requirements for travelers
• EMR: Epic
• Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI
• TNCC preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Trauma and stroke experience required
• Skills required include cardiac rhythm interpretation, conscious sedation, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, critical care drips, and blood administration
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Department support includes CNAs, a Receptionist/HUC, a 24/7 Charge Nurse, an IV/VAT Team, Respiratory Therapy (24/7), Hospitalists (24/7), and ED Physicians
• Orientation includes facility-level NEO and 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays
• Scrub color is navy
• Parking is free
• Floating mid-shift is compensated for travel time between facilities
• Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position before being considered
• First-time travelers are not preferred but may be considered
