Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of 3 years of L&D experience, Epic proficiency, and the ability to circulate and provide newborn care.

Details

• High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit with 31 beds and an average daily census of 15 patients, performing 500–600 deliveries per month
• Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adults in substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
• Unit features 4 ORs and operates in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
• Medications commonly used include Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
• Epic EMR is required; electronic fetal monitoring experience is also required
• Night shift: 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Schedule is posted every 6 weeks to meet unit needs
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• Floating required to Postpartum and Antepartum, with potential floats to sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care

Requirements

• Active WA RN license or valid Compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP
• Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate
• Minimum 3 years of high-risk L&D experience required; 5 years strongly preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment required
• Must be able to circulate in the OR — no exceptions
• Must be able to function as the baby nurse during delivery, including newborn care, eyes, Vitamin K (thighs) injections, and newborn assessments — no exceptions
• Epic EMR experience required
• Electronic fetal monitoring experience required
• Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting required for consideration
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Current proof of required certifications required for consideration
• Active RN license verified through Nursys required for consideration
• Former permanent employees of any Swedish facility must have been separated for at least 3 months and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• RN functions as the baby nurse during delivery and continues care of the newborn until transfer to Postpartum
• Newborn care responsibilities include eye prophylaxis, Vitamin K injections, and full newborn assessments
• All travelers are expected to float between facilities within the state; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
• Former permanent staff of any Providence facility (non-Swedish) are eligible if separated for at least 3 months
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• RTO is minimal; pre-approved time off is considered on a case-by-case basis
