Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, BLS and ACLS certifications, and availability to work night shifts.
Details
- Fast-paced PCU within a hospital setting, focused on patient throughput and patient-centered care
- Adult to geriatric patient population, including intermediate-level monitoring and medical-surgical cases
- Common diagnoses include dysrhythmias, CHF, acute onset stroke (non-TPA), Acute Coronary Syndrome, and Myocardial Ischemia
- Patients are admitted via direct admission from clinics, physicians' offices, prompt cares, other hospitals, or the emergency room
- All patients are on hardwire telemetry, self-monitored by the RN
- Patient ratio: 1:4 on a 12-bed unit
- EMR: Epic; Medication dispensing: Pyxis
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
Requirements
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Copies of required certifications must be provided for consideration
- Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are strongly preferred
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted
- Navy blue scrubs required
- RTO maximum of 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- If one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all applicable holidays with no holiday RTO permitted; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work two, with one holiday RTO request eligible for review
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- No scheduling changes or alternate shift requests are permitted; the posted night shift is firm
- Travelers must have been away from all facilities within this health system for a full year before returning as a traveler
- No special scheduling requests or travel pair arrangements on the same shift and unit are permitted
