Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position at a small satellite campus, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ER experience and active GA or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Small, 14-bed ER at a satellite campus located approximately 3 miles from the main hospital campus
- Serves a patient population ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- An on-site ambulance is available 24 hours/day to transport patients requiring a higher level of care
- No IV Team on site; wound care is managed virtually
- EMR: Epic (required), Pyxis, Spacelabs, and SBAR communication protocol
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
- Every other weekend required
- Floating to the main campus (approximately 3 miles away) is possible
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Epic EMR experience required
- Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are highly preferred
- Copies of all required certifications must be provided for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Parts of orientation take place at the main campus approximately 3 miles away
- No cafeteria on site; vending machines are available for meal options
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- RTO maximum of 7 days per assignment; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- RTO blackout dates: Spring Break (April 4–12)
- Holiday coverage policy: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO requests allowed; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two of them, with one holiday RTO request eligible for review
- Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counted as one), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (counted as one), and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day (counted as one)
- Travelers must be away from all facilities within this health system for a minimum of one full year before returning as a traveler
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- No special scheduling requests, alternate shifts, or schedule changes are permitted
