Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Hospital Labor & Delivery unit with 16 L&D beds, an average daily census of 15, and a 6-bed L&D Triage area
- Patient population includes neonates/infants and adults
- Cases include vaginal deliveries, C-sections, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH), and D&C procedures
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1–2
- EMR: Epic (required); also uses Pyxis and SBAR communication framework
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:00)
- 3 weekend shifts required per contract
- Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
- On-call requirement: 2 call shifts per 6 weeks for AM and PM shifts
Requirements
- Active GA or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP
- AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are highly preferred
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- Candidates must have been away from all facilities within this health system for at least 1 full year before returning as a traveler
- Local candidates are accepted
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- RTO maximum is 7 days per contract; RTO may not be requested during the first week of the assignment
- RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4–12)
- If 1 or 2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them and no holiday RTO will be approved; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work 2 of them and one holiday RTO request may be submitted for review
- Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counts as 1), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (counts as 1), and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day (counts as 1)
- No schedule change requests or alternate shift arrangements are permitted; the posted day shift schedule is firm
- Full compliance with onboarding requirements must be completed on time; late compliance may result in a 2-week start date delay due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
