Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring strong cardiac care skills and the ability to titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips on night shift.

Details

  • Med/Surg Telemetry unit in an inpatient hospital setting
  • Patient population includes chest pain, CAD, PVD, arrhythmias, DM, COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, HTN, MI, renal failure, PE, CHF, GI bleed, and syncope
  • Unit may receive med/surg overflow patients including GI bleed, sepsis, CVA, and COVID+
  • Specialized procedures include pre/post cath lab care, PPM/AICD, ablations, post-op CABG, post-thoracotomy, vascular surgeries (CEAs, fem-pops, AAA repair), titration of cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, Heparin), and bedside sheath pulling
  • Special equipment includes telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, PCAs, epidurals, and wound vacs
  • Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
  • Every other holiday required
  • Floating to all other inpatient units is required
  • Specific scheduling requests (e.g., block scheduling) cannot be accommodated
  • 8-week contract

Requirements

  • Active Louisiana RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand
  • Current BLS certification (AHA required)
  • Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience required
  • Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience with post-MI, post-cath, and cardiac surgery patients
  • Skills required: port access, blood product (BP) administration, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, IV insertion, wound care/wound vac, and chest tube management
  • Ability to manage and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Candidates must reside 65+ miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

  • All certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Upon accepting an assignment, the unit manager may assign travelers to an Emergency Team, which may require remaining at the facility during or after an emergency event or serving on a relief team; candidates uncomfortable with this expectation should not apply
  • Any requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
  • Local candidates are not accepted; travelers must live 65+ miles from the facility

My phone showed her number as spam and I think blocked some of the texts I wish it hadn't have done that but that was nothing on her end all on mine so make sure that you have your settings to allow the calls and texts from spam
