Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with strong PICU/NICU experience and competency across all age groups for a pediatric night shift position at a Level 1 Trauma academic medical center.
Details
- Pediatric respiratory therapy unit at a Level 1 Trauma, academic medical center
- Mixed patient population spanning NICU, PICU, and adult care settings including the ER and Med/Surg intensive care units
- Critical care respiratory therapy focus with frequent use of jet high-frequency ventilation — typically 3-4 jet vents running at all times in the NICU
- Average daily census of 6-7 ventilated patients with approximately 40 patient visits per day
- 12-bed unit with a 1:12 therapist-to-patient ratio
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Floating required within specialty, to other units, and to sister facilities within scope
- No on-call required
- Special equipment includes Maquet Servo i, Draeger V500, Jet Ventilation, Oscillation, and Nitric Oxide
- Navy blue scrubs required
Requirements
- Active RRT credential required
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and PALS
- Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience required
- Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU experience required
- Pediatric/PICU experience required
- Experience in adult care settings including ER, Level 1 Trauma, and Med/Surg ICU required
- Competency and experience with all patient age groups (neonatal through adult) required
- License required if applicable
Additional Information
- Provide critical care respiratory therapy services across neonatal, pediatric, and adult care settings as assigned based on experience and skillset
- The department may place candidates in adult care settings aligned with their experience and scope of practice
- First-time travelers will be considered for candidates with a strong PICU/NICU-focused skillset and demonstrated competency across all RRT settings including adult care
