Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring at least 2 years of ED experience, with night shift availability and regional floating requirements.

Details

  • Work in the Emergency Department of a 207-licensed-bed hospital with Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations
  • Patient population includes stroke, CHF, electrolyte imbalances, arrhythmias, respiratory arrest, sepsis, COPD, falls, and MVCs
  • RN-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4; CNA support at 1:8-10
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
  • Available shift times include 0700-1900, 0900-2100, 1100-2300, 1300-0100, 1500-0300, and 1900-0700
  • Weekend rotation every other weekend
  • No on-call requirements for travelers
  • Floating is required across Region 1 facilities including Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Freestanding EDs within the region, Lake Norman, and the Central Division — candidates must be agreeable to this requirement
  • EMR: Epic
  • Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, bladder scanners, SCDs, telemetry monitoring, vents, and BiPAP

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI; TNCC preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of ED experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • General ED skills required: cardiac rhythm interpretation, critical care drip management, vent management, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation, and triage
  • Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • Department support includes CNAs, a receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, an IV/VAT team (11a-7p and 11p-7a), respiratory therapy (24/7), and hospitalist and intensivist coverage
  • Orientation includes general new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; missed contracted hours must be made up at the end of the contract
  • Navy scrubs required
  • Free parking available on site
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
